Update December, 2023: THE FY24 RESIDENTIAL CLEAN ENERGY REBATE PROGRAM IS NOW OPEN AND ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The Residential Clean Energy Rebate Program provides an additional incentive for Maryland homeowners to purchase and install eligible renewable energy generating systems at their primary place of residence. The program is a statewide, non-competitive (first come, first-served) rebate program. The MEA rebate is separate from GRECs and Tax Credits.

Who is Eligible?

MEA offers rebates to eligible Maryland homeowners who have installed a qualified clean energy system at their homes. Eligible system types include solar PV panels, solar shingles, solar hot water, geothermal heating and cooling systems.

Are Geothermal Replacements Eligible?

Please note that only NEW installations and new heat exchanger loop (e.g., well field) are considered. Geothermal system replacements are no longer eligible for rebates.

How much is the rebate?

Official rebate level from the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is $3000 for a system of at least one ton.

What is the program application deadline?

Applications are accepted July 13, 2023, through June 30, 2024; however, issuance of a rebate by MEA cannot be assured if the Program Budget has been exhausted.
