Energy year for Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC Ending December 31, 2023

The energy year for Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC will end on December 31, 2023. All systems eligible to receive SRECs in these markets must be fully registered before the end of the year to claim any 2023 RECs. In these markets, a system’s eligibility to start generating RECs is based on the system’s date of interconnection or the beginning of the calendar year of registration, whichever is later.

Example: A facility that is interconnected on 5/10/2020 and registered on 8/20/2023 will only receive SREC payments back to January 1, 2023.

Submission of Documentation

To allow Carbon Solutions Group (CSG) and applicable state administrators sufficient time to process applications, we kindly request that all necessary information and documentation be submitted before the following dates:

This requirement also applies to systems in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, and other systems in the Pennsylvania Tier I market. While Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Tier I Market eligibility commences in the month the system is registered, some systems may be eligible to claim retroactive RECs in another market.
