Whether we act as an approved vendor that works closely with your solar installer or you are an independent client, we are able to assist you in selling your RECs.

Step 1: Initiate and Begin

To begin selling your RECs, we will create a portal for you that contains all of your system specifications. In this stage, we will be gathering important documents such as:

  • The system design
  • Permission to operate
  • Photos of your system.

A contract will go out that outlines how many RECs you are estimated to produce based on your system size and the various payment structures available for you to choose from.

What contract options are available?

Full Upfront | One Upfront Lump-Sum Payment

This option is one payment upfront. This is a “pre-payment” for SRECs generated for the entire term of the contract. We calculate this payment based on your estimated production for that term. The price is discounted from the current market price.

Locked-In Rate | Fixed Price per SREC

This option does not have an upfront payment. SREC prices are locked-in for the term of the contract. You will be paid annually between December and February based on your previous year’s actual production.

Short Term Locked-In Rate | Fixed Price per SREC with a shorter term

This option also has a locked-in price per SREC but offers a shorter term. You will be paid annually between December and February based on your previous year’s actual production.

Market-Based | Current Market Rate Minus Commission

The timing and amounts of the payments will fluctuate with the market. We will sell your SRECs (based on the actual production) at least once per year. Payments will be made within 45 days of the sale of the SREC and a set commission will be deducted from your payment.

Step 2: Coordination for Registration

Once your contract has been signed, CSG will register or transfer your system as necessary. Based on the state your system is in and if a revenue grade meter is installed, the registration process will vary. This second steps sees CSG working with your installer to gather relevant information and documents needed to get your system registered with the necessary authorities.

Step 3: Registration Complete and SRECs Generated

One of the biggest questions homeowners want to know is: when will I be paid? Your first payment will come after the contract and registration process.

Once your contract has been signed, CSG will register or transfer your system as necessary. Based on the state your system is in and if a revenue grade meter is installed, the registration process will vary.

When the generator has been issued a certification number, we may create an account with the PJM GATS. This platform is used to track the generation and transfer of SRECs from an eligible facility.

SRECs are created in the GATS based on energy production meter readings uploaded to the system by the generator. Below displays each state's registration flow and timeframe for each step. After GATS has issued their approval and readings are entered, the next step is payment!
